Shrink Plastic and other wonderful things…..

 

It is that time of the year again - time to celebrate the Fathers in our lives!  Our own fathers, the fathers of our children, our spiritual fathers - it does not matter which father you want to celebrate - hopefully there is a father figure you want to pay tribute to!  Whether he gave you your first hiding, taught you how to drive or two-step, held your hand as you crossed the road, or piggy-backed you when you were little!  He should get his own page in your album!

Join us on 2 June and make a stunning Double Page layout with the talented Tracey Slaven from Scrapper-T!  You will learn how to use Crackle Paint, use your patterned papers effectively, make an extra "flap" on your page to put as many photos as you want, use rub ons, buttons, border punches and more!  This class is suitable for both beginners, intermediate and advanced scrappers.  The cost is R220-00 and includes the complete kit, as well as yummie snacks and drinks!  Class will start at 9:30!  To book your seat, please send an email to sales@scrapbookstudio.co.za or phone the shop between 9am and 5pm to book your seat!  Here are some sneak previews of what you can expect!

On to something for the technique junkies..........we are going to be focusing on shrink plastic this month!  This might be a new concept to some of you, but we would like to share a real-life incident where Scrapbooking Stash helped save a puppy!

Cariena has a (fairly new) puppy.  Two weeks ago she discovered that this little pup was clearing the 5 foot wall to go and visit the neighbour's dog.  Of course she did not believe it at first, until she witnessed it!  She did not know what to do - it was weekend and she knew she had to "tag" the dog, in case it got lost.  To the rescue?  Shrink Plastic! 

First she punched a tag from the sheet of Shrink Plastic.  Then, using Staz On Solvent Ink, she stamped her telephone number on it

She then took her Heatgun and started to heat the Shrink Plastic.  As you can see, it starts to shrink and shrivel up.

As it heats up, it starts to even out again.  When it is no longer shrinking, you can put something heavy on it to flatten it.

Here you can see the original size and the "shrunken" plastic!  Cariena punched a hole in it before she started and she tied it with some wax cord to her baby's collar.  It is still there!

Life…..

Can you believe May is in it’s almost last week?  The year is basically halfway through and it seems as if it just started!  Today we share another layout by Elizna Parsons using the Scrapbook Studio Design Team Kit for May 2012

This is a gorgeous single page layout with clean lines and stunning embellishment clusters.  Elizna used the Pink Paislee House of 3 Chipboard alphabet that is in the kit to create the title.  She used various border punches for detail as well as some die cut flourishes.

  Here is a close up of the one embellishment cluster.  Rolled flowers, die cut paper flourishes, a punched butterfly and some pearls, bling and brads, add to the gorgeous cluster.  Don’t forget the clock transparancy overlay!!

Here is a close up of the other embellishment cluster.  Elizna used another piece of the Scrapper T transparancy overlay that is in the kit, together with some of the mini alphabets in the Kit.  She also used a Scrapper T Chalk’em that suited her layout “good times”.  The Fabscraps metal embellishment together with a punched butterfly and some flowers adorned with pearls and bling, completes this cluster.

Elizna also created this amazing card with the contents of the kit!  A quick “Happy Birthday” card for someone special with a Scrapper T Chalk’em to emphasize her wishes for a Spectacular Day!
