At Scrapbook Studio Jeffreys Bay we believe in formal classes. We try to get a variety of teachers every month, teaching different styles and techniques.

We have had some stunning classes the last 3 weeks, with great results! Enjoy some of the photos!

We even had an 8 year old beginner - we were amazed to see her use a paint dabber!! Paige, you will be a 3rd generation scrapper! We look forward to seeing some of your creations!

We have a formal class every Saturday with a different teacher each Saturday of the month and during the week informal classes and one on one scrapping, cardmaking and mixed media/paper craft classes.

To book your seat or receive our sms'es, contact us at cariena@scrapbookstudio.co.za or phone the shop on 042-2932781. This Saturday Cariena will be teaching a Cuttlebug Scrapbooking Technique class. The class is fully booked, but we will give some feedback after the weekend!

Using a Stencil Template..........

We just received these wonderful templates from the USA. They can be used with Glimmer mist, Perfect Pearls, Distress Inks, Chalk, - anything you can think of!

I used a Co'redinations cardstock and sanded it all over. Then I placed the whole template over it, and used my Fired Brick Distress Inkpad with the Blending tool and lightly went over the whole template. When I was finished, I felt it needed something more. As you know, Distress Inks stay wet for a long time. I then took my perfect pearls and brushed over the stenciled image here and there just to add a bit of a shimmer.

I used Tim Holtz's Rosette Die to make the rosette. Added some of the new Twine in the shop and embossed the dark red button with iridescent Embossing powder - just to add a shimmer. The title got some Black Diamond Stickles to get the same shimmer - as the letters were made of foam, I did not think they would emboss well!

I used the Ornamental Die from Tim Holtz to cut the journaling piece and then I used the Magic Matter circles to make the larger shadows. Love those little tools! Added some Christmas Red stickles to the outline of the diecut piece, and embossed the buttons again. Added some bling as a photo corner, arranged the photos and you have a layout in less than an hour! Hope this will inspire you to get out those templates and USE them!!

Fabscraps Baby Album

Fabscraps released a stunning range last month called Vintage Baby. Donsie was given one of the Pram Chipboard albums to scrap and show off the range. It has been lying on the counter and has been a huge hit! We have never had so many orders for a chipboard album before! We were sold out within a week, and we have now had to reorder all the papers and loads of the albums again! Donsie was asked to do a class in the album, as it showcases loads of techniques. One of the most prominent techniques used, was the embossing with UTEE of some of the elements. Below are some more photos and a close up shot of one of the chipboard elements with UTEE. Hope you like it!!

Graphic 45 Competition

We often get people who ask us how to use Graphic 45 papers to scrap with. Although we recommend that you always buy 2 of each paper ( one to cut up and scrap with, and the other one to look at forever...) you can sometimes use both to scrap with! Cariena shares a layout on her blog using these papers. We would love to see your creations! Email them to us cariena@scrapbookstudio.co.za before 15 May 2011 and you could win a hamper of G45 papers worth R200-00!

Cuttlebug Layout

People often ask us how they can make use of their Cuttlebug on their layouts. This Saturday, April 16, Monica and Donsie will be giving a free demonstration at the AFM Church from 9am -12pm. They will be showcasing the machine, demonstrating the versatility of it. Here is a layout made with only patterned paper, die cuts and embossing with the Cuttlebug.

All elements on this page was made using the Cuttlebug machine, except the small butterflies on the swirl ( Martha Stewart punch) and the loops on the turquoise cardstock - it is also a punch by Martha Stewart. The title was cut with the Cuttlebug, the swirl, the dressform, the big butterfly, the patterned paper was altered with embossing folders and various techniques.

The butterfly is a Cuttlebug die, and comes with 4 different Embossing patterns. I cut the butterfly with my Cuttlebug, and then embossed it with the pattern of my choice. Added some stickles afterwards. The patterned paper was changed using a Cuttlebug domino Embossing folder. I swiped the folder with Versamark ink before I put the paper in. Afterwards I brushed Perfect Pearls on for a slight shimmer. I then swiped my Stream Adirondak inkpad over the raised parts to define them.

The swirl is a die by Tim Holtz, and I cut it with the Cuttlebug. I then painted it with my Stream and Espresso Paint dabbers and added the Lagoon and Cinnamon Stickles. The dress form is also a Tim Holtz die ( this one we got at the Scrapbook Convention) It is unfortunately not available in South Africa yet. The patterned paper was embossed with another Tim Holtz folder, Bingo. I then swiped my Versamark pad over the raised areas, and added some Stream Embossing powder to it. Changes the look of the paper completely!

The crown is from a Tim Holtz Embossing Folder. It has many images on it in a collage form. I first put my piece of paper through the Cuttlebug in the folder, and then I cut the crown out, sanded it, and added some Lagoon Stickles. So, if you don't own a Cuttlebug yet, get one! It is an amazing, lean, green cutting and embossing machine!! If you don't know where to buy one, go to www.thewholesaler.biz, and find a store near you! At Scrapbook Studio we still have plenty - contact us on 042-2932781 or send us a mail at cariena@scrapbookstudio.co.za to make sure you get one!
