It is almost Valentine's Day. In Jeffreys Bay there is not much of a hype about Valentine's Day. But, we all have hearts that belong to someone or something! Big Hearts, at that! One of our suppliers, The Wholesaler, is running a promotion called "My Big Heart" for the month of February. They sent us enough paper and embellishments of the Paper Heart Collection by Crate Paper to teach the class to 6 ladies. And what a class it was! The original layout we designed with the paper sent to us by The Wholesaler, is the one above. Below you can see all the layouts of the girls who were in class ( except Hazel's - she had to rush home to cater to some guests, but she promised to bring her layout in later this week. She actually did a Christmas layout, so it will be worth seeing!!!)
Lee-Ann with her layout called "My Little Man". She used photos of her 21 year old son when he was a toddler. We love the bum!!!
Janida with photos of her German Shephard, Bella, when she was a puppy. "sy het ons harte gesteel" ( she stole our hearts) is the title of her layout
Colleen used black and white photos of her whole family. Her kids are both in Australia, and she said that they really do belong together, even though they are so far apart!
Julie used photos of her and her husband's break away weekend to the Tsitsikamma last weekend. "My heart belongs to him" is her title. Who would have thought that photos with so much green would match this paper collection so perfectly!
Jeanette used photos of her son and his fiance. Her title is "our hearts belong together". She loves turquoise and was very happy when she saw that there was a hint of it in the paper! She adjusted her paper choice to focus on the turquoise.
Of course a class at Scrapbook Studio will not be complete without the use of a few Ranger/Tim Holtz products if Cariena is teaching it! She used Distress Stains and Jik to dress up the doily and some Crackle Paint and Glossy Accents to alter plain glossy whiteboard hearts.
Here some of the plain, glossy whiteboard hearts are being covered with crackle paint.
Cariena also taught the students how to use Distress Stains and Embossing with some Jik, to create custom accents for their pages. It was very interesting to see how each student took the technique and totally made it their own. If you look at each of their layouts, they all made different coloured doilies and different coloured accents. They also used the embossing technique on their doilies, and we were so impressed with their creativity. You can view all the photos of the class on our Facebook Page. We would like to extend our Big Heart gratitude to The Wholesaler for this initiative. The Wholesaler is the sole distributor in South Africa of Kaisercraft, Simple Stories, Prima, Graphic 45, Crate Paper, Studio Calico, Cricut, Cuttlebug, American Crafts and more! Of course we stock all these products, so please visit our online shop at www.scrapbookstudio.co.za or pop in at 106 Da Gama Road, Jeffreys Bay if you are in our area again!
