Shrink Plastic Again

Hello all!  It is nice and chilly ( well, chilly according to JBay standards!) We have had some requests to re-post the shrink plastic post as a single post, so here goes!!

Cariena has a (fairly new) puppy.  Two weeks ago she discovered that this little pup was clearing the 5 foot wall to go and visit the neighbour's dog.  Of course she did not believe it at first, until she witnessed it!  She did not know what to do - it was weekend and she knew she had to "tag" the dog, in case it got lost.  To the rescue?  Shrink Plastic!

IMG_7180 IMG_7181 IMG_7182

First she punched a tag from the sheet of Shrink Plastic.  Then, using Staz On Solvent Ink, she stamped her telephone number on it

IMG_7183 IMG_7184 IMG_7185

She then took her Heatgun and started to heat the Shrink Plastic.  As you can see, it starts to shrink and shrivel up.

As it heats up, it starts to even out again.  When it is no longer shrinking, you can put something heavy on it to flatten it.

Here you can see the original size and the "shrunken" plastic!  Cariena punched a hole in it before she started and she tied it with some wax cord to her baby's collar.  It is still there! Get your shrink plastic out of hiding, and use it!!

Have you ever started with a layout, and needed to add a bit of "pazazz" to your page, but you did not have embellishments that co-ordinated with your papers or fit in with your colour scheme?  Well, that is where inks, misters etc come in really handy!  We needed something more for the layout we were making, and we thought some custom tags would be great!  We took a no 8 American Tag, and punched 3 smaller tags from it.  We then took some distress inks, and coloured the tags until we were happy that the colours were suited for the layout

We then misted the tags with a home made glimmer mist, and cut them into banners, alternating the custom banners with some of the patterned paper.

And you have a unique, custom embellishment on your layout!

We get asked daily by clients what the most effective way of storing 12 x 12 papers are.  There are, of course, alot of different ways to store your papers.  It all depends on the space you have available, and believe it or not, what kind of personality you have!  For someone who is not colour co-ordinated, it would make no sense arranging all the papers according to colours!  Below we are going to show you a very simple, but effective way of storing your papers if you have limited space

Buy some plastic bags from your local Scrapbook Store that are big enough for 12 x 12 papers.  Get a plastic container that is about 6-9 inches deep.  Arrange your papers in a manner that suits you - patterns together, colours together, brands together - whatever suits your style - and pack them tightly into the container so that they are vertical, and you can just flip through them!  If your paper stash is still growing, put something heavy in front of the papers to keep them upright!  You can always adjust it as your collection grows!

Elizna’s Last Layout

Friends Pic_CARIENA

We had some Gremlins in our Internet Server last week, so we were unable to showcase the last layout created with the May Design Team Kit by Elizna Parsons.  The Gremlins have been sorted, and now it is time to show off the last layout Elizna Parsons created with the May Design Team Kit.  We are so impressed with what she created with the first ever Scrapbook Studio Design Team Kit!  4 Scrapbook Layouts and Cards!  Well done!  Thank you, Elizna!  We are truly fortunate to have had you as our first DT member, and you have set the standard really high!  We can’t wait to see what the rest of the Design Team comes up with!!

Friends_detail1_CARIENA Here is a look at some of the detail on the layout.  In the kit you will receive some Kaisercraft Alpha Stickers.  Elizna used these on most of her layouts.  There are hundreds of Alphas on one sheet!  She also used the pearls in the kit to dress up her flowers that she custom cut.

Friends_detail_CARIENA

She die-cut her own title with some of the cardstock and added some faux-stitching with the tracing wheel and her journaling pen.  This is one of Elizna’s trademarks, and gives such detail to the page.

We still have 3 of these kits in stock – once they are sold out, they will never be packed again.  The kit includes all the notes for the layouts, as well as loads of products!  To buy yours, click on the picture and you will be taken to the link in the shop.  We would love to see what you have created with yours!

Design Team Kit Complete May 2012 - Elizna

Watch this space next week for the first layout our June Designer, Mariaan Fouché, created with the June “Boy” kit!  Have a blessed week and keep scrapping!
