Year End Sale....

Why would we share a photo of men outside our shop? For the simple reason to applaud them!! These gentlemen were so patient, they waited outside the shop for a very long time while their female counterparts were enjoying themselves at our annual year end sale!

There was one man inside the shop - our good friend Frans! He is a fantastic scrapper ( we have some of his work to share later) and knows a bargain when he sees one! He was one of the first to arrive at the sale ( before the doors were open) and he was very happy with his takings!

This is what it looked like outside the shop around the paperbins! The ladies were so gracious - one would look at a paper and ask the others ( if she did not want the paper) if someone else wanted it! It was quite a treat to see the ladies be so generous!!

At the till it was a bit crowded most of the day, but everyone was so patient! The shoppers who had to meet friends and family for coffee or lunch, put their bags away to come back later.

A glimpse of what was happening inside the shop. Punches, papers, storage, stickers, stamps and more were being sold at rock bottom prices. Everyone got a bargain!

These two looked for a quiet spot to sort out their papers - they had a load and were checking constantly if we had the low, low prices right! Yes, we did! We are so grateful to each and every client who supported us through this year - this is our way of giving back. Without all of you, we would not be able to bring you one of the biggest selections of brand new Scrapbook Papers and more available in the country.

We are passionate about paper - it is the foundation of our hobby, and we promise that we will endeavor to continue to bring you all the latest available locally and overseas! We have been requested by various clients who were unable to attend our sale today to please extend it - we will continue on 31 December and on 3 January 2012. After that - we promise to have loads of specials again in 2012 and if we only see you again on 30 December 2012 - make sure you save enough to stock up!!

Jeaunes Viljoen Rocks Studio!

We have been very honoured this December to have Jeaunes Viljoen, Design Team Member of Let's Scrap, teach 3 classes at Scrapbook Studio JBay. She is an extremely talented lady, and her classes are hugely popular. We had a full house again today, with everyone creating the most beautiful pages. This picture was taken just before 1pm. The class was supposed to be almsot finished..........but, it did not end!!!

Everybody decided they wanted to do another page, and this picture was taken at about 3pm! Everyone on their second ( and some on their third) layouts! Everyone had such a blast! The last person left just after 6pm ( of course we had to "sneak preview" some of the sale stuff, and show off layouts! It was a great day, filled with prizes for everyone, and Izelle winning the lucky draw prize! We are so blessed to have such wonderful clients ( more than that - friends) and such awesomely talented teachers, such as Jeaunes. Here is a sample of one of the layouts the students did

Jeaunes will be teaching her last class for the holidays on 5 January 2012. To book your seat, please phone the shop on 042-2932781. Enjoy the last two days of 2011!! See you next year!

Donsie's Flower Class

Do you like this layout? Would you like to be able to make the flowers on this page? Yes, make them, yourself. Without the use of loads of fancy tools!!! All of these have been made from paper, by hand. And you too, can make them!!

On Wednesday 28 December Donsie taught her famous flower class again, and we had 6 ladies lined up, eager to learn how to make 7 different paper flowers from one sheet of double sided patterned paper! They were from all over South Africa - it was almost like the UN of SA!! Lol!

Minette owns Divine Scrapbooks in Pretoria, and she was happy to learn something new to take back to her clients. She got the class as a Christmas gift from her husband. We love meeting other shop owners - it is so interesting to hear how they do things, and to exchange some ideas. The Scrapbooking Industry is so small, and all the retailers have to work together to make sure that the industry is advanced and developed. It is a happy hobby!!

Here Minette is working hard at making sure the circles are lining up to all fit into her scheme of things! In front of her you can see the pink "wet" flowers and the Vellum Rose. This class is one of our most popular. We have two flower classes, in each you learn how to make more than 7 different flowers, enabling you to make over 14 different ones altogether! The class can be done in a group or on a one to one basis. The cost is R100 per person, and includes everything - you jsut bring yourself and some enthusiasm! It lasts for 3-4 hours. To book your class, email us at sales@scrapbookstudio.co.za or phone us on 042-2932781 to book your seat!

Creating with Cricut

The new Cricut has been the talk of the Scrapping Industry the past month. We are completely sold out (with the rest of the shops in South Africa,) and we have a waiting list for the next shipment. We decided to show a layout that Donsie did with her new machine. This stunning page uses only the cartridges that are on the machine. The circles and the title was cut with her Cricut. EK Success border punches were used to create the effective border at the bottom. She used her flower punches to create the flowers. Some brads and some stickles finish off the layout. This is such a stunning page. It just goes to show how important the right tools are in Scrapbooking. You will find a huge variety of punches, die-cut machines and accessories in our shop. We hope you have been inspired to create! This layout was inspired by a page featured in the Scrapping & Kie a while back. Donsie just took the basic layout idea and made it her own. We encourage you to do that. Be inspired! Enjoy the last week of 2011!

Graphic 45 Travelogue

We hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas lunches and that all the plates have finally been cleared, the leftovers placed in Tupperware and today is just being spent with family and friends! The new Graphic 45 Travelogue collection arrived at the shop on Thursday ( just in time for Christmas) and when Amanda asked me to do a page of her and her daughter, I immediately knew I wanted to use this range. A very simple layout - using only two of the papers and two pieces of cardstock. I cut the frame from the Jungle Fever sheet and the leaves from the Rainforest sheet. The title was cut with my Cuttlebug and some Lifestyle Crafts Alphabet dies ( they are stunning and available here) distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and then I used Glossy Accents to give it an epoxy finish

The tag is from 7 Gypsies and the swirls were cut from Prism Cardstock in Ivory, distressed with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and I used Cinnamon Stickles all over. The button is a new one by Fabscraps and the scallops and brown strip with the holes were cut using my Cuttlebug and Sizzix Dies. I added some stunning brown pearls as a finish and there you have it! Quick and easy!!

Scrapping Fun!

We have been doing some make and take demonstrations this holiday. Free of charge scrappers can come and play with Esperanza using the shop's products testing some techniques. In this demo, they are learning all about alcohol inks and the magic one can create with it. It is really an excellent way to learn about some of the products out there and actually see if it is for you, before you spend alot of money buying all of it!

We are also very happy to have two of our most enthusiastic scrappers back for the holidays - this mother and daughter combination is formidable! They absolutely love scrapbooking and they thrive on learning new techniques and creating stunning projects. We love seeing them every day, as well as what they have created! We really adore our clients. Sometimes it feels as if we are all just friends having fun together, and it is as if we want to just forget that it is a business, and we just want to play with them!!! Thank you to everyone who makes us love our job so much!!! xxxxx

Holiday Scrapping

So, what have we been up to since the Holidays have been in full swing? Classes, classes and more classes! We have been full every day with loads of scrappers creating stunning pages! Today we did a "beginner's class" from ages 8-100! We even had a MAN!! Yes, Peter and Kristen have been married almost a year and Peter's mother, Sandy, inspired them to do a class together!

This gorgeous layout by Amelia shows just how effective the use of circles and faux stitching can be.

Here is proud Peter with his first layout - he is quite a natural! They already booked their second lesson for Tuesday!

Just look at this beautiful layout 16 year old Sanmari created. The stunning papers by Die Cuts With a View is perfect for any occasion! This is a gift for her grandparents for Christmas. We are so glad everyone is having such a great time! We love having you guys for classes!

Tim Holtz Tag Class

We held our annual Tim Holtz Christmas Tag Class on 14 December, where ladies had the opportunity to make some tags using Tim Holtz products and techniques at a give away price. It was supposed to only be a 3 hour class. Cariena was confident that the tags that took her almost 2 days to finish, would be a cinch for 8 and a half ladies in 3 hours! Dead wrong! We had so much fun, the class went from 10am to just after 5pm!!

Here Carol is busy making her first tag - she decided on a very fashionable Dusty Concord tree - it came out spectacular!

Just look at that table!! Half of the ladies were holiday makers, and as our class included every single thing, ( even the glue used!!) they did not have to worry about a thing! We know what it feels like when you come on holiday and you were not allowed to pack your WHOLE scraproom, so we cater for those holiday makers who also would like to join in the classes.

We have been asked to repeat this class in the early New Year and we will keep you posted on when the next Technique Tag class will be! Click here for our December class schedule. Remember to visit our online shop for fantastic deals and wonderful Scrapbook Supplies you must have in your Christmas Stocking! We also offer Scrapbook gift vouchers online, so tell your husband, children and other loved ones to pay our shop a visit and get you a Scrapbook Studio JBay Gift Voucher for Christmas!!
